Before Humming was a business, it was a rhythm. A quiet, pulsing undercurrent I carried with me through decades of diverse roles, countries, and challenges. It wasn’t defined by title or sector, it was the hum of clarity in a moment of chaos, the calm steadiness that helped others move forward when the path was messy or unclear.

Early Years: Inventory, Insight, and Intuition

My earliest work taught me that business isn’t just about product, it’s about people. As an assistant manager at a busy electronics store, I learned how inventory maps to intuition, how product knowledge empowers trust, and how the right question can close a sale better than the flashiest feature. That foundation stayed with me.

“I didn’t just move boxes; I moved tension and turned it into trust.”

Later, I built three different furniture-moving companies from the ground up, each in different cities. There, I learned the true nature of logistical compassion. Moving is a stressful life event, one that requires more than muscle or schedules. I became the calm in the storm, the one who could organize routes, manage vehicle maintenance, rotate employees, and still answer a nervous client’s call with warmth and confidence. I didn’t just move boxes; I moved tension and turned it into trust.

I also completed a Bachelor of Education, specializing in high school science, laying the groundwork for my love of clear communication and structured learning.

Teaching in West Bengal: Where Clarity Met Compassion

In the early ’90s, I spent three years in India teaching high school subjects to a class where only two students spoke English natively. I taught, built curriculum, sourced textbooks for every grade level, and stepped in as acting vice principal when needed. Whether managing facilities or learning bits of the local language, I came to see teaching not just as instruction, but as systems design. Education needed clarity, care, and adaptability. So did leadership.

From CNC Programming to ISO Accreditation: The Precision Chapter

The 2000s brought a deep dive into the world of technical precision. I operated CNC machines at a boutique furniture company, then joined a concrete testing lab where I quickly moved from data entry to lab manager, overseeing testing procedures to ISO 17025 standards.

Later, I joined a small concrete firm determined to secure its spot on a major international oil and gas project. In three months, I helped them obtain ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications, making them the first of their kind in Australia. My teaching experience gave me the tools to communicate complicated processes with plainspoken clarity for teams and clients alike.

From here and across hemispheres, I completed my second bachelor’s degree entirely online; a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, awarded with honors.

Infusing Every Role with Empathy, Clarity, and Collaboration

“Whether I was serving tables or training teams, one thing remained constant: people deserve clarity and care.”

Between chapters, I held short-term roles, from server and hostess to sales rep and nanny. Roles that refined my interpersonal instincts and emotional intelligence. They taught me how to listen on the fly, respond with empathy, and meet people where they are.

Startup Growth and Systems from Scratch

Most recently, I joined a startup focused on platform lifts for wheelchair accessibility, beginning in a back-office support role. Over the next seven years, I evolved with the company, shifting from managing communications and marketing materials to hands-on installations and resolving technical issues. My role expanded into B2B sales and customer support, followed by employee onboarding and training. I helped increase brand awareness through social media and eventually led efforts in ADA compliance.

Together, we grew from two people in a small office to nine in a bustling warehouse, with a 65% year-on-year growth streak. My final achievement? Securing compliance for our innovative hybrid stair-lift under ASME A18.1. Every step was a testament to what thoughtful operations can build.

Humming Virtual Services: Built to Bring Calm and Confidence

And then I felt it, the rhythm again. All those years of translating complexity into clarity, of building systems with heart, of guiding growth behind the scenes… they pointed to something new.

Today, I bring that layered expertise to small business owners who want more than tasks checked; they want support that hums with purpose. Whether helping with admin, strategy, marketing, or creative content, I walk beside them as a calm, confident guide, because I’ve been there, and I get it.

“Humming isn’t a pivot. It’s a culmination of lived experience, designed to bring calm and confidence to your business.”
